When it comes to renovating a home, many people think about the kitchen or bathroom, but don't forget about your bedroom. While you may not spend a lot of time in your bedroom, improvements can help to increase the value of your home and turn it into a sanctuary that you enjoy a lot more. Here are some different renovations you can do in your master bedroom.

Create More Storage

One thing many people would like to have in their bedroom is more storage. If you have a small closet that doesn't really provide much room, now is a good time to do some remodeling and allow for more storage. There are a few ways to do this, many of which depend on the rest of your home. For example, if you have a large bathroom in your bedroom that you don't really use much, you can move the wall separating the bedroom and bathroom, then have a little more space in your bedroom for adding a walk-in closet. Another option is to have your bedroom closet extend along the entire wall, making it wider.

Add More Windows or Sliding Glass Doors

If the back wall of your bedroom faces your backyard, this is the perfect opportunity to take advantage. When working on bedroom renovations, consider adding some sliding glass doors on that wall so that you can choose to head out to your backyard through the bedroom. You can have a small patio area right outside your bedroom doors, where you can have a relaxing, little nook that is perfect for early sunrises. Another option is to expand the windows in your bedroom to be larger and let in some more natural light.

Extend the Size of Your Bedroom

This is another option if your bedroom is on the first floor of your home. If local zoning laws allow you to do, you can bump out the wall of your bedroom to extend a little bit more into your yard, then provide more space in your bedroom. This is good if you want a relaxing reading nook by the window or if you are trying to make the bedroom larger for added storage or other uses.

Change the Closet Doors

A less extensive remodeling project that is good for the bedroom is to upgrade your closet doors. If you have plain closet doors, you can add a lot of style to your bedroom by installing sliding barn-style doors, mirrored sliding doors, or French-style doors.
